HMS provides a robust set of Information Technology (IT) capabilities that incorporate the entire software development lifecycle including development, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of custom designed systems. HMS works with clients to develop customized solutions which incorporate software development, system administration, network administration and system security. HMS personnel have developed many development tools and solutions which enables our staff to utilize software reuse to provide the customer with a state of the art product at a reasonable cost. Our staff also has vast experience with multiple programming languages, database administration, system administration, network administration, and security technologies which allows us to provide maintenance and support of existing infrastructure and IT systems.
Past Performance:
HMS was contracted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to develop a system that would streamline the submission of quarterly reports from Accrediting Organizations (AO) to CMS. It was designed as a Windows Client application and is installed at each of the AO headquarters locations. The system gathers internal information and provides the ability for the AO to export an encrypted file to CMS which is then imported into the central CMS database. The CMS version of the application permits CMS personnel to generate a number of reports that were not available using their previous methods. This system also provides a quality assurance mechanism on the submitted data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
HMS staff was involved in development of a system for the Department of Defense (DoD). The system relied heavily on the number of registered users. In a one year period, approximately 800 users registered to become users. These users were contacted using conventional methods of marketing such as individual email, postal mail campaigns, and trade show contacts. Following the initial year, a permission marketing tool was implemented. Once the HTML email was created, it was distributed to company contacts known to do business with DoD using the permission marketing tool. Within 48 hours of permission marketing tool implementation, over 2,000 additional registered users were contained within the system. As a result, the number of registered users has increased by 1,162% and now has over 9,000.
HMS personnel have also developed a tool that allows for an expansive method of permission marketing. This tool provides the ability for HMS to target a particular focus group and retrieve e-mail addresses related to the group via the Internet. The e-mail addresses are stored in a local database along with the assigned category and become a repository for a marketing effort.
